The day is at leisure to explore this picturesque town. Or you can opt for Rohtang Pass (closed on Tuesday’s)which offers magnificent views of the himalayan mountain ranges. If roads to Rohtang Pass are closed, then visit Snow Point where ponies / horses can be hired (on direct payment) or one can opt to visit Solang Valley, located 14 km from downtown Manali and at an altitude of about 8500 feet above the sea level. Solang Valley is renowned for its ski slopes and state-of-the-art ropeway. In a picturesque setting of snow-capped mountains, thick conife forest, lush green meadows and a meandering river, it is the ideal location for a host of outdoor and adventure activities (On direct payment).
Note: Only local vehicles are allowed for Rohtang Pass / Snow point visit.
Overnight in Manali. (B, D)
Today, proceed to visit the Naggar Castle, an excellent example of traditional local architecture with walls composed of alternate layers of wooden beams and evenly hewn stone. It was converted into a heritage hotel in 1978 and is now run by Himachal Tourism. The hotel overlooks the Kullu Valley, offering a superb location and spectacular views. Later, visit Mata Vaishno Maha Devi Tirth.
Later, visit the Prati Vaishnodevi Mata Mandir, which is located in the beautiful Kullu valley of Himachal Pradesh.
The rest of the evening is at leisure to indulge in individual activities.
Overnight in Manali. (B, D)
Today after breakfast, enjoy a city tour of Manali visiting places like Hadimba Devi Temple, Vashisht Hot Water Spring and Tibetan Monastery.
Hadimba Devi Temple, is dedicated to the demon goddess Hadimba (an incarnation of Kali). Constructed in 1553 by Maharaja Bahadur Singh, this multi-tiered wooden pagoda-style temple is Manali’s oldest and one of the most frequented pilgrim spots.
Vashisht Hot Water Spring, located 3 km from downtown Manali, on the left bank of river Beas is renowned for its hot sulphur springs and temples. Originating from the mountains of Vashisht, the sulphur springs are endowed with medicinal and healing powers. Piped into Turkish-style baths, there are separate bathing areas for men and women, each with pools of varying heat.
Later, visit Himalayan Nyinmapa Tibetan Buddhist Monastery, which houses several images of Lord Buddha and Tankha paintings.
